Sandra Fonseca-Abbott
BA., Registered Nurse., RYT500., Certified Yoga for Golfers Teacher

Sandra is the founder and owner of YogaTent Studio, a passionate entity specializing in Vinyasa Flow Yoga, and Yoga for Golfers™. Her involvement in the health and fitness industry has evolved over the past 20 years to emphasize the importance of reaching out to people and facilitating a place for people to nurture their mind, body, and spirit.

Sandra is a Certified and Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance at the 500/Advanced level. In addition Sandra has evolved her yoga practice through ongoing selective worshops with well recognized international yoga teachers and mentors.  Sandra began her yoga studies back in 2006.  After receiving her RYT200 certificate Sandra studied extensively (over 300 hours) with Shiva Rea, Prana Vinyasa Flow Teacher Trainer, California Sandra continues to deepen and evolve her own practice through selected workshops taught by Ramanad Patel of San Fransisco, CA. Ramanand has been a leading Iyengar Yoga Instructor for students and teachers around the world since 1968. Introduced to yoga by his father at the age of 12, he continues to be inspired by Yogacharya Sri B.K.S. Iyengar. He is respected as an innovator in the use of props and working with students who have special needs.The workshops and teachings of Hart Lazer have provided a strong foundation and understanding of the non-linear approach to yoga practice.

Sandra appreciates the uniqueness and enjoys classes with Erich Shiffman, Nicki Doane and Eddie Monastini, Martin Kirk. etc.Sandra has a background in Thai Yoga Massage with Lotus PalmSchool of Thai Yoga Massage.

Yoga For Golfers

Sandra understands the dynamics of the golf swing having the ongoing opportunity to work closely with 2 very well recognized local golf professionals each with very different teaching techniques. To teach yoga specifically for golfers it is imperative to understand the concept of golf, the biomechanics involved in perfecting the golf swing from the ground up, the tempo and rythm of the swing, the technology, and of course the breath awareness required for this special game.Trained by Katherine Roberts, the founder and president of

Sandra is dedicated to helping people achieve balanced performance both on and off the golf course, providing golfers with the tools to play better and to play longer. Sandra’s passion for yoga and golf translates into a performance focused, educational program, which provides instruction on how a golfer can improve flexibility, strength and power, balance, core strength and mental concentration.


Spending time with family and close friends, rock climbing, motorcycle riding, mountain biking, adventure racing, hiking, and her annual half-marathon are other ways in which Sandra experiences bliss in her life. Discovering new flavours of Green & Blacks organic chocolate througout her travels.

Community & Education

Sandra is a Registered Nurse (Humber College, 1996) and has her BA in Sociology (York University, 1993). Sandra has leadership and teaching experience in both the arts and sciences through her on and off  part-time positions with Sheridan College and Conestoga College, teaching nursing labs for Personal Support Workers (PSW) and Practical Nursing (PN) students.

She has had the opportunity to work with a wonderful team of school nurses providing health care and health education services to students (deaf and hearing students).
